Implant restorations are a type of dental treatment we use to replace missing teeth. Picture it as installing a strong, new foundation (the implant) in your jawbone, onto which we attach a custom-made artificial tooth. This procedure not only fills the gap in your smile but also helps maintain your jaw's structural integrity.
The implant itself is a small titanium post that acts like the root of the tooth. The reason we use titanium is because it's a biocompatible material, meaning your body doesn't recognize it as a foreign object. Over time, the implant fuses with your jawbone, creating a robust and stable base for the new tooth.
On top of the implant, we attach a piece called an abutment. This serves as a connector between the implant and the replacement tooth. The replacement tooth, often a crown, is then attached to the abutment.
Implant restorations are not only for single tooth replacements. For multiple missing teeth, we can use implant-supported bridges or dentures. These provide a more stable and comfortable solution than traditional bridges or dentures, as the implants securely anchor the artificial teeth in place.
Implant restorations offer a durable and natural-looking solution for missing teeth. They function just like your natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. Just like your natural teeth, they require regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups to keep them in great condition.
With proper care, dental implants can last many years, even a lifetime, making them an excellent long-term solution for tooth loss. With implant restorations, you can regain your natural smile and enjoy the confidence that comes with a healthy and complete set of teeth!
